Rebrand revitalises
procurement systems

Pensar has been continually evolving over its twenty-year history. The Queensland ‘infrastructure people’ cover a diverse range of industries in both government and commercial sectors. And when time came to update their brand, they changed more than their logo, they discovered a new way to do business.

A rebrand can be like opening a can of worms. After updating the Pensar’s logo and positioning the team were faced with implementing the brand throughout the organisation. It was suggested they consider a specialist project manager, a familiar role in the construction industry, and they readily agreed. ‘You must know what you’re doing Brad as I received three referrals to contact you,’ said Jane Death, Manager – Clients and Markets.

With a launch date looming, Louise Yunker, Group Business Manager and Jane met with Brad to discuss the rollout. Louise explained, ‘we required responsiveness across print, merchandise, uniforms and signage and we were delighted with how the Salsbury team paid close attention to our needs, delivering our requirements to the market quickly.’ Jane, who has exceptional organisation skills, admitted ‘it was a huge task and it was critical that every element be right.’ From thread colours to print and on to vehicle signage, Brad and the team ensured that reproduction of the new brand was ‘spot on.’

‘My background in colour reproduction holds us in good stead’ said Brad. ‘We test and proof every aspect of a project to ensure the client’s expectations are met.’ Working with a diverse range of suppliers and substrates it was essential to cross check and produce samples for approval. Even in the tight time frame Salsbury insisted on colour perfection. Brad said, ‘we work with manufacturers and tradespeople that understand craftsmanship. Like us, they pride themselves on a quality finish.’

After this experience, Pensar’s procurement model was completely re-assessed. Instead of managing a multitude of suppliers, they could rely on Salsbury to source and deliver all their branding needs. Further, Brad suggested they take advantage of SP Online, which could manage their catalogue of branded items, printing and uniforms in a custom cloud-based system. Louise said ‘The portal has shaped the efficiencies of our ordering patterns. Previously we were trying to keep track of orders on huge spreadsheets, this makes much more sense.’

When Marketing Manager, Gina Miller, joined the team she was impressed by the integrated system that gave her complete control over everything from their business cards to high-vis workwear. ‘It has been an excellent way to keep our brand guidelines in check. Organising anything is so simple because our products are all set up ready to go.’ Salsbury are now Pensar’s brand champions with the technical capabilities and supplier network the organisation can depend on.
